Night at Sandals

Postby Guest » Mon Mar 01, 2004 12:34 pm

My husband and I have been to both Hedo's in Jamaica. We are looking for another family of all inclusive resorts. We have heard that the Sandals resorts basically die in terms of nightlife at 9pm.- is this true?

We stayed at Sandals Montego Bay twice, 10/98 and 4/00 - 7 & 6 nights respectively. What you have heard is correct, but I'm sure at times there is the exception. In fact, we have now visited HedoII 3 times - for that very reason, we were looking for more of a party place (and boy did we find it!)

In our experience, most of the guests stay in the main area for the evening entertainment, which is the same type of thing they have at Hedo: singers, contortionist, beach party, etc, etc. What we found was that once that show was over, most of the guests seemed to disappear! A couple nights were the exception - one time we were at the piano bar & there was a pretty good crowd (20-30 people) and the party lasted until the piano player stopped (1am). . The piano bar is more of the sing-a-long set up. Most of the time the disco had only a few people - even their "pj party" had only a few couples in pj's, and no more people then the piano bar had.

Be happy to answer any other questions!

exactly right. nights are dead at sandals. we are HUGE night people, so i thought it would be a big deal, but it's really not. you can go swimming on your own if you want or go to the piano bar (for a while like the person above said). . but it's pretty much on your own. there's always a bar open somewhere, though, so you can always do SOMETHING.

Nightlife off the resort?

Postby justweenus » Fri Jul 30, 2004 3:58 pm

We're night people also and have enjoyed Hedo II & III numeroulsy, especially the night life. Is there any local night life off the resort? I know Negril has local night clubs, anything similar in Ocho? There's always the possibility of a night pass to Hedo III if we can't sleep. We'll be at Sandals Ocho Rios Sept 1-8 . . Anyone else going then and wants to venture out at night?

I agree with the Dr.. .. . When we were at SRB we never went back to our rooms before 2:00 AM, and there was quite a few people in the bar, but not a "party" type scene.. .. . Had a great time though!

Wish I was there with you guys, but we aren't going to Whitehouse until November. At SRB there was a convention going on so it was pretty active. At SRB we met 2 couples who were getting married there so we had arranged a bacholor/bacholette party. My girlfriend and I arranged with the Bartender to keep different drinks coming to us and we arranged a special tribute with the piano player. Meanwhile, my husband and our friend bought the grooms to be cigars and went out drinking with them. We went with friends to SDR and SRB so we made our own fun. You have to make your own good time. After being married 27 years, we aren't into just going to our room to be alone! We still have plenty of time for that.
