Traveling with infant

Traveling with infant

Postby munchkinsmommy » Mon Feb 23, 2004 8:02 am

I'll be cruising with a 5 month old infant on 1/26/04 to Nassau. I also have a almost 3 year old who wants to go to a beach. Any suggestions of how to do this safely with the baby and possibly how to manage a stroller on the beach if we decide to use one. Our cruise does not offer an excursion to a beach so we will rely on local assistance. We'll probably take a taxi and avoid the ferry. We would like to go to a beach with other people and services available like umbrella rental and drinks for sale, but not a over crowded beach. Any suggestions?

Take the Blue Lagoon Excursion, yes Carnival on your ship does offer it. There is no good way to use a stroller in the sand honestly! :(

That beach does offer all sorts of rentals.

Go to the Carnival Site, and look up Excursions for Nassau and you will see all it has to offer there. BUT then don't book it with them. Just go ahead and get some people together to get to take you there and you pay the fee when you are there!

Hi Kim,
Thank you SO MUCH for this suggestion, I will do this. I wanted to go there but thought the beach would be rocky there, not sandy. Should we try to find others on the ship to share a taxi there or just do that once on shore? Thanks for you help!!! :D :D :D

cruising with infant

Hello,
We're back from our cruise with our 5 month old and almost 3 year old. The 3 year old had a great time, camp carnival was fabulous!!! Cruising with the infant was very limiting. My husband and I couldn't see a show (too loud), we could go in the hot tubs together and I couldn't play the slots with the baby. Dinner time was difficult because she was worn out from the day and she tended to be pretty fussy. We have a week long cruise booked in October and we will cancel that based on our experience this trip. We will probably wait until our youngest is able to participate in the children's camp before cruising again with them. As far as going to the beach at Naussa, we went to the beach at the Sheraton. We didn't take the stroller, just the infant car seat carrier so she could comfortably nap and the baby bjorn. We then walked right next door to the Atlantis.. ..that was alot of fun. Our 3 year old got to feed sea turtles and sting rays and we went through their incredible aquariums. We were going to go to the blue lagoon via taxi but we were told we would have to take the ferry and the trip would take about 45 minutes and I was not interested in doing that with the little ones based on what I've read about the ferry. It was also a very windy day and we did not think it would be worth the effort.

Travelling With Kids

Postby Bethanator » Mon Mar 15, 2004 8:46 pm

Hi Munchkinsmommy,

I hear your pain about travelling with a baby. We took our 3 year old on the Victory last August, and it really was very hard to truly enjoy ourselves. She just wanted to wreck the stores, and we kept having to return back to the room for potty breaks, and she wouldnt go to Camp Carnival initially.

See if you can get the folks to watch the babies and take some time with your hubby.

B

Here is a solution for all of you.. .. .

LEAVE THE BRATS AT HOME!

A cruise is NO place for infants.. ..come on people.. .. . WAKE UP!

As far as stroller goes . .. .. . Kelty makes a great stroller that converts into a backpack. You can stroll when you need to and fold down to the pack to walk on the sand.

That is really BALOGNA  we have cruised with our daughter since she was 3 weeks old, and is now 11 and has been on 10 cruises, sure the kids activities require 2 yrs old and above but you all will still have fun, we paid a female employee $5 per hour so we can go have fun, she was great and called us on our fms radios if there were any questions, go for it.

Hey I just wanted your opinion since I noticed you wrote that you have been on cruises with your baby since she was 3 weeks old. I am due next week and I'm planning to go on a cruise Royal Carribean in late september so the baby will be about a month old then. Is it safe?

We have been traveling for a long time and have taken our child with us. She is 10 months old and I would rather bring her and enjoy her everyday then leave her home. If you need any questions or pricing on a cruise, do not hesitate to contact me

Thanks for reading my post
