I have booked a tour to Egypt with Gate 1 Travel through Affordable Tours. My tour starts March 12. Is anyone out there booked on this? If so I would love to hear from you. Just answer on this forum.

I took the Egypt tour with Gate 1 in 2000. I can tell you it was the trip of my lifetime. I think of it often and value the pictures I took there and the journal I kept among my most valued possessions. Our tour guide, Soha, was a true gem. Her knowledge and personality made a wonderful trip even more enjoyable. Hope you have a wonderful trip.

I have scheduled an egypt tour for April 2004. So far almost $4000 later (tour for 2), their custumer service is terrible. Rude people, including their managers.
Just because we didnt want to loose our deposit we followed through. It took them nearly a month to confirm, charge the wrong amount. I will definetely post my experience once I come back. So far I am not impressed with their custumer service. Telephone operators are plain rude. Rather than helpful they hang up the phone on one occasion. I had to literally remind one of the operators that "I am not calling to beg for a nickle" just to get information as to what is going on with my reservation. Anyhow maybe it was a mistake. I will know when my husband and I come back from our spring vacation.

Thanks for the posts referring to my original post. I returned from Egypt on Mar. 21. The trip was fabulous. There were 8 of us in our group, so it was very much like a private tour. Everything was handled beautifully. There was always someone to pick us up or handle a problem for us. The hotels were beautiful. In Cairo we stayed at the Conrad Hotel and we all had rooms with a view of the Nile. It was a 5 star hotel. The boat for the cruise was ok, but nothing like our ocean cruise ships. We saw everything. It was just like the pictures that we have always seen. Our guides were very knowledgeable and I learned more about ancient Egypt than any college course could teach you. On the last day before we caught our plane home, our cruise guide took us to his home in Luxor and introduced his family and gave us drinks and food. He was great.
I booked my tour through Affordable, so when I had any question or problem, I called Tasha at Affordable and she handled it for me, so I never dealt directly with Gate 1. I would certainly work with Gate 1 again because I was impressed with the trip. It was really a fantastic trip that I would highly reccomend.

Recently returned from a Gate ! Travel Tour to Egypt. Egypt was a wonderful experience and the expertise of the Gate 1 tour guides enhanced the tour. We had two guides. One guide was the organizer, who coordinated all the baggage, hotel, problem solving, boarding passes, and scheduling , etc. The second provided all the historical background at all the sights and inbetween the sites. This negotiated for us when needed. They both were always thinking ahead to ensure our experience was a pleasant one, like scheduling certain sites during the cooler part of the day or when the site would be least crowded. They sent someone off the ship to a - to get me back pain medicaton and got consultation from a doctor when someone else had an asthma problem. They are thoughtful, kind, and well organized,

I felt spoiled on this tour. None of my previous tours have met the level of service provided by Gate-1 personnel
