Norweign -

Postby theides » Sat May 08, 2004 11:04 am

:x Norweign -: My husband and I just got married 4/17/04 and went on the Norweign Sky for our honeymoon. After being up all night from the wedding and preparing for our very early pickup to go to Logan airport, we arrived at 4:30 AM. American Airlines procedded to tell us that our flight tickets had been cancelled and that Norweign tried to reroute us to Northwestern Airlines, but never put the tickets back in. So we missed our flight to Puerto Rico and waited at the airport all day on 30 hours of no sleep until the next available flight. Noone was available to talk to from the Norweign office. We finally arrived in Puerto Rico, but it was too late to see that port.

Little things continuously happened on the trip. We decided to do a shore excersion for the next day and called the desk to see if there was still room for any of the Dominica tours. We were told there was still room so I went down to sign the forms. The guy behind the desk was more interested in closing up his desk than helping me and brushed me off. He told me to fill out the form and the tickets for the excersion would be sent to my room before 7:00 AM. I opened the door at 7:00 and no tickets. I called at 8:00 noone knew anything about it and the paperwork was never processed. So we were on our own for excersions, but it was the best one we went on. We hired our own taxi driver/tour guide for half the price of the boat excersions, and he drove us all over the island and demonstrated the making of shampoo from hibiscious leaves.

The service was very inconsistant. In the restaurants where you had to pay a cover charge to eat in, the service was great, but food ok. In the common restaurants, one night would be good, the next night we were peering over our table to find the waiter for drink refills and silverware to eat our food with because tables werent set properly.

Think twice before booking with Norweign. I talked to several people on the ship who said that was the worst cruise they had been on. Stick with Royal Carribean is what we kept hearing. :x

Golden Princess

I'm very amased you had a fairly bad experience with the Golden Princess!
I went on a cruise in the Mediteranian last year and had a great time.
You are right about the food, nothing special. But the service was excellent, the crewmembers very friendly and of service. We only had to wink and got everything we wanted, even more!
Nothing to do during daytime? Maybe because you are a youngster? I don't know about that so I presume you are right.
But for people over 30 there where a lot of nice things to do on board! Daytime and especially nighttime.
We did not have a line when cheching -in or -out and no cue on excursions.

Just came back on a 10-days Western European cruise on the Golden Princess (21 June 2005 sailing from Sothampton). . It got worse from you last trip and I've been on Princess 4 times. Each times, it gets progressively worse. Now, you even have to pay for your ice cream. No more free ice cream except if offered as a desert item in the menu. No more free specialty coffee, e.g., expresso. No more free juices outside of the morning breakfast hours, even then, only orange and cranberry juice are available. Anytime dinning means subject to table availability. Only two seating choices are offered if you want to make an advance reservation: 6:30PM or 8:00PM. If you want to dine with some friends at 7:00PM, tough luck. You may get a table right away or you may have to wait. They even took the small writing pad out of the portfolio in the room! I'd "upgrade" your comments to avoid Princess!
