Solo Trip To Italy 11/21/08

Hi
Booking a solo trip to Italy with Gate 1 for 11/21/08.
4 nights Rome
4 nights Venice
doing non-stop flights from New York City to Rome, Rome to Venice, Venice back to New York City. All on Alitalia Airlines.
Also, booking all my tours through them.
QUESTION.. .. .. .. .. .. .. . how reputable are they when it comes to tours etc?
The Hotel & airlines I can call and check my booking on my own to see if its correct but.. .. .. . the tours you really cant. Im planning a tour each day and dont want to get stuck waiting for a tour that does not happen  Going on my own as a solo female I want to do the tours with a group instead of wandering all over on my own.
Just wondering if anyone has experience with Gate 1.
Last year I went to Egypt with Globus which was awesome!!!!
Dont want to do an entire organized tour to Italy because you only get 2 nights in each place and I reay want to spend a bit more time in Rome & Venice
Thanks
Jackie

I just returned from the Leisurely Italy tour with Globus. It was 3 days Rome,3 Tuscany and 3 Venice. We added 2 days early in Rome and it was great.Sorry I don't know anything about Gate 1 but I would check the BBB for any complaints.I totally understand your wanting extra time in each city.Italy is amazing and I could spend a year there and still want more.

Had to tell you but Alitalia is awful. We flew to Rome on that airline and it was in shambles, but we arrived in one piece and it was cheap. They are going bankrupt and filed for a merger, it shows on the planes.
