Optionals (London, Paris, Rome). . Optionals in GENERAL

Hello all!

Going to London, Paris Rome in July and was wondering if the optionals were worth the insane amount of money they are priced at? I've done some research and see I can do lots of things on my own and pay WAY less, but then there are a few optionals that look really GREAT!

Can anyone offer any insight into these? Here is the link to the tours optionals. Im sure some are the same for lots of tours, not just the LPR one. Thanks!

I have not traveled with Trafalgar but have taken several tours with Globus. When I first stared touring I took most of the optionals. Now that I am very comfortable in Europe I prefer to do more things on my own. I still take some escorted tours with Globus as I like the idea of the hotels and transportation, baggage being handled for me but now I rarely take any optionals.I do my homework before I travel and if I can get there by public transportation I go on my own. I usually find I need a few breaks from the group anyway. The only optional dinner I ever take is the farewell dinner if it is not included.I love wandering the streets and finding special places on my own.I am a 67 year old woman and have taken public transportation in London,Paris,Amsterdam,Rome,Budapest,Vienna and Venice and found it very safe and easy to get around.I walk everywhere even late at night with no problem.I travel with my DH or my best friend who is the same age. Europe is a lot safer to walk around than it is in the U.S.They just don't have the violent crime there that we do in the States.Just keep an eye on your purse and use a money belt for credit cards,Atm cards etc.Be aware of your surroundings as you would in any large city.
I know you will have a great time. I love Europe and can't seem to stay home since I discovered it!!
