Clothes to bring?

Clothes to bring?

Postby MCoutts » Tue Apr 08, 2008 11:54 pm

This might sound like a stupid question, but this is my first trip to Italy and my husband and I will be gone for 16 days. Will there be laundry facilities in our hotels? Will there be soap available as well? If not should we bring 16 days worth of undergarments, socks, etc.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .? I just want to be prepared! This is the last thing that I am stressing out about, we will be leaving on May 1 and I am pretty prepared expected for this situation. Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.. .. .. .

People usually take laundry supplies for their clothes. Some hotels have laundry facilities. Check www.tripadvisor.com Put in the name of your hotel and you can read reviews etc. Under amenities it will tell if there are laundry facilities.

Hand wash in sinks

Postby Khiori » Thu Apr 17, 2008 11:51 am

Bring a small bottle of woolite and/or detergent in your 3-1-1 bag. If you hand wash underwear, socks and tops in the sink you can bring much less clothing along.

I find nylon underwear dries overnight, but cotton socks and tops take 12 hours. If you wash yesterday's outfit when you arrive at the hotel, say by 7, (takes about 10 mintues) then hang it to dry, it should be good by 7am to pack or wear again.

Both Rick Steves and Amazon.com sell a braided rubber clotheline. Check out www.onebag.com/ for really good packing advice. Also the Rick Steves Graffiti board under "Packing Light". .
