Globus or Cosmos

Globus or Cosmos

Postby barrington » Sat Mar 22, 2008 8:01 pm

Hi..me and my wife are planning on taking a tour of Europe which includes Itlay,France, Swiss and England. We saw such a tour both on cosmos and globus. .But the cosmos tour is 1000$ cheaper. This is our 1st europe toue so we wanted to know if someone has taken both or either of these travel tours and their experience on both. How are the hotels on Cosmos?

Any advice on "must-see" in these places?

Globus owns Cosmos,Monogram and Avalon. Cosmos is the budget side of Globus. If you compare the two tours you will see that Globus includes more touring and meals. With Globus you will stay in better hotels more centrally located that are probably 4 and 5 star. With Cosmos the hotels are probably 2 and 3 stars and located far from the city central. If you don't mind taking your own public transportation for free time than you would probably do fine with Cosmos.
Some optionals that you will be charged extra with Cosmos are included with the tour price with Globus. Otherwise the tours are the same. Just do your research on hotels and costs of entries into attractions and see if the extra you pay for Globus is worth it to you.
The best advice I can give you from a lot of experience is to take a tour that has as many 2 night stops as you can find..The 1 night stops are very tiring and you really don't get a chance to enjoy the town.So try to keep the 1 night stops to a minimum. Both Globus and Cosmos are excellent choices.Which tour are you considering? I have traveled several times with Globus and always been very satisfied.
DH and I will be doing the Leisurely Italy tour in May. I chose this tour of Italy because there is 3 days in each city. We will also be going to Rome 2 days early to deal with the jet lag and to have extra time to explore Rome.

Hi LetsGo,
We like the tour to - Italy and Greece with Cosmos. We think the tour covers a lot of cities in Italy (all the relevant ones) and gets you to Athens, Olympia etc. Have you taken that tour? Any experiences? We are looking to travel in May. how is the weather in europe then?

DH and I are going on the Leisurely Italy tour in May so I will let you know when we get back. This is the first time I have traveled to Europe in May but we are hoping to avoid the really hot weather in Italy. Looking at the weather history it looks like the temps are in the 70"s.So if that holds true it should be perfect in Italy. I imagine Greece will be similar. I agree I think your tour looks like a good on.I considered it but than decided I liked the idea of 3 days in each location. We will go early and have 5 days in Rome,3 in Tuscany and 3 in Venice. I have been to Venice before and loved it. We will visit Greece another time. From my past experience I do not like the tours that have 1 night stays.JMHO
As far as the weather in Europe it varies depending on where you are, north or south. On the same trip in Sept in Italy we roasted and froze in Switzerland so there is no answer to that just like the weather here.
