I always bring an electric coil for heating water for instant coffee or dehydrated soup. Comes in handy in my cheap hotel rooms and also when planes get canceled and you have to wait in an airport a long time. (I also include some instant coffee packets too!)

I have had one of these little buggers with me for over 20 years every time I travel!

Have fun.

Is the electric coil 120 Volt or 240 Volt?

Camera stuff and medications

Postby ZeldaSue » Mon Jul 21, 2008 5:31 am

I always have at least 3 sets of batteries for my camera and plenty of memory cards so I can take all my photos at high resolution.

Imodium (diarrhea control) or its equivalent is always in my medications kit. The good news is that before a trip, I often have to dispose of expired pills and buy new ones but on those rare occasions when a bad bug bites me I'm better equipped to handle things.

Haven't looked at these posts in a long time. Late reply - sorry.

I have a 110 volt coil that I have used in the US. With my overseas travel I take my coil that is 220/240. It heats real fast overseas but in the US with 110 it takes about 5 minutes or 6.

For a while I did bring a spare 110 overseas and it did work but it worked real fast at twice the voltage - replaced it in Thailand when someone took it out of the cup when it was still plugged in. Gotta leave it in the water and then pull the plug other wise you fry it!

Sorry for the late reply.

I would think if you stuck the coil in the water before you pulled the plug, you would get fried.

Wetwipes - lots of times you may need to clean your hands off before you eat or when they get sticky.

I always have a small flashlight with me when I travel overseas. Something cheap in case I lose it or forget it in a hotel.
