Has anyone had experience with a booked tour being cancelled? We've just been told that our Globus Westerm Explorer tour in america leaving on april 20 this year has been cancelled??? It's really disappinting because we have to re-organise our plans, flights and tour have all been paid for also. With only 2 months notice i'm not sure whether other tour options will be booked out. I thought going with a reputable company would be risk free but obviosly not! |

| The Thames to Tiber tour for 5/17 was also cancelled on Friday. So we are now booked on the 5/10 trip and have been rearranging all of our plans also. |

We have had tours cancelled twice, once by Trafalger and once by Globus. In each case they were more than generous to offer us reduced prices and reimbursement for fees charged by the air lines. In both cases we got better deals and were happy with the change they offered. It is disappointing to change plans and it requires a little work, but it always worked out to our advantage. We learned to ask for guaranteed departure dates when we book now. That way you don't have to worry about cancellation.

When tours are canceled, passengers can be rebooked on the guaranteed tour departure dates. _________________ Cheers

Thanks all for your useful comments. Just to update you, we have now re-booked the same tour starting a month later on may 18. It is not a guaranteed departure but due to work commitments etc. it is the next most convenient time option for us. We have been charged fees to re-book our flights and am in the process of getting compensation for this with Globus.
It's all looking promising. |

Hello Gowse,
So glad to hear you have been rebooked. .The weather will probably be a whole lot better on your new date.
Globus really is a good company and I am sure they will take good care of you. .Let us know if you have any more problems .I hope you come back and write a trip review after your tour.

The rebooking fees should be about $200 per ticket because it is international. _________________ Cheers

this is one of my fears (to have tour cancelled).
What is the least amount of notice they can give you? For example, gowse mentioned having about 2 months notice.
Could they have given only 1 month notice? Less?
I have minimal flexibility with regards to time off, especially with what my job would consider "short notice".
Would Globus be of any assistance booking with another company if they were unable to provide the services as promised? |

In my case, the amount of notice we receiveed coincided with the final payment date for the tour which was approx 2 months earlier.
I'm not sure if globus will assist in re-booking with another tour company but if you have a very good travel agent they will do all that for you. We were lucky enough to have a great travel agent to facilitate all the re-scheduling.
I'm really looking forward to the trip. I'm from Australia and have never been to the US, so I'm excited. I'm sure Globus will be great. |

gowse, I'm glad you are visiting the United States. Let me be the first to welcome you. Someday we are planning a trip to Australia and new Zealand. Probably 2010. _________________ Cheers
