Christmas market tours with Globus-anyone taken one?

What did you think? I am a 35 year old single woman and wanted to try a traditional Eastern European christmas. I was wondering if anyone had taken the tours. I am looking at Berlin, Prague, Budapest and Vienna.

Friends and I took a Globus market tour last year to Munich, Strasbourg and Nuremburg. Globus was first rate with an excellent tour director and bus driver. Our tour only had 12 people and that was fantastic! It was wonderful to visit the Christmas markets and get in the holiday spirit. Unfortunately, we did not take the tour you have booked, but I can certainly reccommend Globus. Also, the crowds are down that time of year (except for the Christmas market area) so you get to see a lot in a short span of time. I have been to the cities you mention before, and all are beautiful, and I am sure they will only be more so decked out in their Christmas finery. Enjoy!

Thanks so much for the input! I cannot wait to go, just wish it was not so long to wait. I want to see a real European Christmas and this sounds just like what I wanted.

Hi,

Sorry, I did not read your reply until today. I am looking at the Munich, Prague, Budapest, and Vienna tour. What are you taking and will you let me know how it went? I am looking at going in 2008 but I am a planner and wanted to get as much feedback as I can now! :D

thanks,

Kennalb

We're taking the Berlin, Prague, Budapest and Vienna tour. I've been to Berlin twice and Vienna once, but the other 2 will be new, and the whole tour sounds great!

It's coming up so soon!!!!

You will enjoy Budapest. In Prague you will have to be careful of the pickpockets. They are all over.
Cheers

Before you make your reservation check out the Avalon(owned by Globus) Christmas Market River Cruise. I have done both coach tours and river cruises and I can tell you that if I had a choice of the two I would definitely take the rivercruise. We took a Budapest to Amsterdam rivercruise with Avalon last summer and it was the best vacation I have ever had. It really is very similar to a coach tour in that you have local guides in each city but it is really nice not to pack and unpack everyday.Your hotel goes with you and all of your meals are included.Absolutely wonderful.Check out the cruisecritic web site and go to the rivercruise section and you will see many reviews of the Christmas Market rivercruises.
I love Globus and DH and I will be doing the Leisurely Italy tour with Globus in May.I do not like changing cities everyday but this Italy tour has 3 days in each city so it might not be to bad. Believe me if one of their rivercruise ships did this Italy tour I would be on it!! No matter which tour you decide on I know you will have a wonderul time with Globus!!!They are very good at what they do. This will be my 7th trip to Europe,I'm afraid I have become addicted! :D
