Munich, Salzburg and Vienna Tour- Sept' 07

Can anyone give me an idea on the best way to get tickets to see a concert show in Vienna?

How hectic is this trip? What time does "afternoon at leisure" start? This would give me an idea on what optional tour or side trip to take. Which optional start shall I not miss?

Thanks for the advice!

You can order concert tickets on line and pick them up at the box office. We will be in Vienna on September 27, 28, 29, 30 and October 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14th.

Thanks for the response.

I've looked at the prices online and compared them with the optional tour price. The tour tickets though do not tell you where you'll be seated. I think I'll just get them with the tour since the ride w/b provided as well?

The optionals are usually pretty good with the exception of some of the meals. I know there are those on here that disagree with me BUT IMHO the meals are not great on the optionals and you can get a much better meal by using tripadvisor or Frommers to find good restaurants and venturing out on your own.Just about everyone speaks some English so you don't need to be concerned about making yourself understood. You will get a much better meal by going a little away from the tourist main street and finding a restaurant the locals go to. You don't have to go far, only 1 or 2 blocks. You'll save a ton of money and get a much better meal. I guess in Vienna though you do have to get the Sacher Torte at the Sacher Hotel.
One of the advantage of the optionals is you do not have to wait in line but rather the whole group will enter immediately. This comes in handy at some palaces and museums etc.If you are going somewhere out of the city another advantage is your transfer is included.

The optionals are not cheap and you can do the same thing on your own for much less money.I enjoy taking my time in museums etc and do not like to be hustled along by a group.
When I first started traveling to Europe with a tour group I always took the optionals. Now that I am an experienced traveler and have been several times I prefer to do most things on my own.I love getting away from the group and just wandering.JMHO
The afternoons at leisure start about noon. The city tours almost always end in time for lunch.
I just returned from Vienna and they were selling the concert tickets in the streets in the tourist area. Vienna is beautiful, you will love it.Great place to sit in a sidewalk cafe and absorb the culture. There were many street performers etc.I saw a young lady who had a hugh piano on flat cart and she was playing classical music on it. She was fantastic. I took many pictures in Vienna.
The advice that I would give is to try to save some time to just enjoy the sidewalk cafes and to wander the streets.Do not over schedule yourself.
