Greece Golden Fleece for June 2008

Greece Golden Fleece for June 2008

Postby travelinjack » Wed Sep 05, 2007 6:53 pm

So, just back from Globus tour to Egypt which was even better than I thought!!
Planning on going to Greece - Golden Fleece for June 2008. Egypt was wonderful but jam packed!!
Going to do the monogram/indepenant tour for Greece. 3 nights Diavini Acropolis Palace (booking a pre-night) and then a 7 night cruise with Louis Cruise Lines. Has anyone done this tour before?
Dont know which ship yet because they wont have the bookings available until 10/20/08 over at Globus. Anyone know which ship they usually use for the 7 nighters?
oh, any questions about Egypt just ask

Do you need a visa to Egypt for US citizens? Do they like Americans in Egypt?
Cheers

Last I heard you DO need a Visa for Egypt but can purchase one at the airport, very inexpensive.

You do need a Visa but it takes only 15 minutes to get it at the Airport. If you want you can get it ahead of time using a visa company suggested by your tour company. The people are far friendlier than the French.

We just got back from the Golden Fleece trip. Our ship was the Cristal (new, replacement for the Sea Diamond). . The trip was great, but definitely not a leisurely cruise as we took all the shore excursions and many of them start very early in the morning. We never did experience the "nightlife," but that's not our scene, anyway. Many on the trip did and they fell asleep during the shore excursion bus rides!!!
You will love the Divani Acropolis Palace---at least we did. The rooms are small (not by European standards, though) and the hotel is definitely for group tours, but location, location, location. It is a very short walk to the Acropolis, Plaka, and metro. Buffet breakfast is large and well laid out.
