Vienna, Salzburg, Prague

We took an escorted tour of Italy a couple of years ago with Globus. I found it very easy, relaxing and pleasant as everything was taken care of.
Now we are thinking of going for another one. Our focus this time is Central Europe, particularly Vienna, Salzburg and Prague .We are looking for a 9-12 day tour which starts in October 2007.
We prefer travel by bus as we want to enjoy the sceneries of Austrian mountain ( Salzburg area). . I did a search on the net and the closest I found is one by Collette called Mozart Musical Cities.

However, this tour is very much concentrated on Mozart. We are looking for one with a bit more variety. I appreciate the experience of folks who have been on any of the tours covering the same area.
Also, I want to know whether the timeframe that we are aiming for (October) is a good time for this trip.

I figured since what we are looking for, may be too custom-made, we can approach it from a different angle: Get an Austrian Package for 5-6 days which covers Vienna & Salzburg and add a 3-day Prague stay to it. Advice for this approach is also appreciated.

Globus has an 11 day tour called Imperial Splendors that starts in Munich goes to Prague, Budapest, Vienna and Salzburg and ends in Munich. Budapest is just beautiful and I would suggest if you can you should see it too. I have not taken this particular tour but I have traveled with Globus several times and just returned from a river cruise that started in Budapest and ended in Amsterdam. We saw Salzburg,Vienna on the way. I would love to go to Prague but will have to do it another time.Have fun planning. I have always been VERY happy with Globus and they own the Avalon river cruise ship,Tranquility, that I just traveled on.

Does it have to be Salzburg? I did the Insight tour called The Bohemian which was Vienna, Budapest, Bratislava, Prague, Vienna. I enjoyed it.

You might want to go to the Insight Tours and Trafalgar Tours bulletin boards to read people's comments about specific itineraries. those are much more active bulletin boards than this one and if you use the "search" function you get a lot of information.

We are going on the Prague, Vienna and Budapest tour with Go-Ahead tours beginning June 28. There is also a 3 day extension to Salzburg. Our tour flies to Munich then to Budapest and we will spend 3 days there. We will take a tour bus to Vienna for 3 days and then a bus to Prague for 3 days and the extension is 3 days in Salzburg. We are not able to do the extension. I will post our experiences after we return. A family member toured with them last year and loved his tour. We're hoping for the same experience!
