My family and I enjoy traveling and exploring different areas of the country. Our next summer vacation spot is Chicago. We have a 10 and 14 yr old so we need some ideas on what to do and where to stay. A friend of ours suggested the Wyndham Glenview Suites, have anyone stayed there before? Is it a nice hotel for a family to stay in? Does anyone have any other suggestions or advice? Thanks a bunch!

Take a boat ride to view the skyline in the evening. It is amazing.
Have a "Chicago style pizza at Ginos. Try the Chicago style hot dogs and an Italian Sausage sandwich.I moved away 20 years ago and still miss the food!!! I always catch up on my Chicago food everytime I go back to visit.
Take the kids to the Museum of Science and Industry and the Natural History museum.The Planeterium and Aquarium are also good. Attend a Cubs game.Take a walk down Michigan Ave (Magnificent Mile) through Grant Park over to Buckingham Fountain.There will probably be concerts in Grant Park at the bandshell.Go to the top of the Sears Tower.
Lincoln Park has a very nice zoo.
Can't help on places to stay as we stay with family.I would definitely stay downtown in Chicago and not in the suburbs. If the place you mentioned is in Glenview that is a far north suburb and you would have to take the train downtown to see anything. It would be much more fun to stay in the city close to all the action. It is very safe downtown in the touristy areas.
You might want to go to tripadvisor for suggestions on hotels. That is who I always use when traveling ANYWHERE in the world. I'll look at it too and see what I can come up with. They sort there hotels according to family friendly places so I would look there. You should be able to get some kind of family package.
