trousers vs capris or shorts. which are likely to be used most? current plan for 2 weeks is 1 pr shorts, 2 capris, 2 trousers, 1 casual skirt, 1 dressier skirt and appropriate tops. cardigan, gore-tex windbreaker, sneakers, flats and birkenstocks.

Shorts are not worn in Europe unless they are competing in a sporting event. I would go with the capris. It is possible to get 10 day weather reports off the WEB just before you leave.
I am sorry but although I have been to Europe several times I have not traveled to those destinations. Maybe someday!
