Caribbean Location?

Caribbean Location?

Postby purplelobj » Tue May 29, 2007 12:56 pm

My family is looking at going on vacation at the beginning of Jan 2008. We've been to Mexico (Cancun, Riveria Maya) the past few times and are looking to go to a new place. We were thinking Jamacia, or possibly the Dominican Republic, but we aren't set on these locations.

We are looking to travel with my grandparents (age 80ish), my parents (50ish), my brother and me (23 and 21). . So we have a wide age range so we need a resort with lots of things to do.

If you have a recommendation about a location, or a resort (preferrable all-inclusive) I would greatly appreciate hearing about. :)

cruise?

have you thought about a cruise?

Southern/Eastern carribean is very nice, been on both.

I suggest this as it would be very eary for your grandparents, everything they need is right on the boat. The less they need to walk around, probably the better.

I would only suggest Jamaca if you stay at a resort. Avoid Jamaca on a cruise as the locals are SUPER aggressive (to the point of threatening) as you get off the boat and walk around the island. Although this is somewhat of a catch 22, as Dunn's River Falls (Famous seen from cocktail w/ tom cruise) was one of my favorite tours. You get to climb the falls which is awesome. Problem is, they make you leave through a maze of shops and they will grab you and pull you in their tents.

Anyway, if it we're me, go on the cruise. Everyone can go off and do their own thing, yet be within 5 minutes of each other. Great option for such a wide age group.

I vote for a cruise also. I highly recommend Holland America. They cruise to the Eastern, Southern and Western Caribbean. We were on a 10 day Eastern Caribbean cruise in February 2006 and really enjoyed it.
Cheers
