most exciting wildlife encounters.. ..beware the bears

i am wondering what your most exciting wildlife encoutners might be.. ..mine was a confrontation with a bear.. .. .

The last thing that anyone said to us as we left for the garbage dump was "and if a bear charges, don't run."
We were in Bella Coola, Central Coast British Columbia. Two young student punks from Brighton, England and a guy from Oregon.
Within an hour a dozen bears had been photographed in the dump and we were ready to be on our way. Excited at seeing bears the sad image of these creatures picking through the human waste had got too much.
One last photo. The big old black bear didn't seem too happy. His eyes fixed on us 50 yards away. He rose. Two paces more. We looked at each other. Everything went in slow motion. I didn't know this guy from Oregon but he had long legs. I knew I could out run my friend Dom. No more were we sizing up the bear. This was survival. RUN!!!
200 yards later and the bear had already turned back to the garbage.
Dom looked down. There was a wet patch on his jeans. He had come in thrid place in the mad dash and wet himself in the process.
The dump is now fenced off and I am happy to say no more garbage bears. I have since survived many bear encounters. both grizzly and black bears. And I have not run once. Or wet myself.

I was in Alaska one time when a black bear and 3 cubs walked right in front of my car! Luckily I was already driving slowly because it was such a small road, but she and her babies stopped and looked at me! It was one of the most beautiful and amazing things that has ever happened to me :)

One other time I was 7 months pregnant with my daughter, hubby and I were in hip waders (ok mine covered my belly lol talk about a sight!!) but anyway, one of the other fishermen on the bank said there had been a bear there just minutes ago, and that someone's car alarm had scared it off. It was MY car alarm!! LOL!!
