copenhagen vs. vienna

copenhagen vs. vienna

Postby zgotts » Mon Oct 02, 2006 12:50 pm

hey, im looking to study abroad this spring, and im trying to decide between vienna and copenhagen. i understand these have been rated the two most "liveable" cities in europe. from what ive heard from asking other people, vienna is beautiful but not as appealing to a 20 year old kid as copenhagen because its more "museum-like", while copenhagen has a beter nightlife. of course ive also heard some people refute that statement and tell me the opposite. i love snowboarding, which obv would make vienna more appealing, but im sure i can get out there in either spot. i also really like live music (and would like to take lessons if possible) and going to bars and all that fun stuff. i knwo thats not a whole lot of info, but any advice from anyone would be much appreciated. thanks.

Are you looking to study abroad or play abroad? Your comments indicate that you are more interested in playing abroad. Copenhagen then would be for players then.

I lived in Hamburg, Germany for 4 years, and had the chance to visit both those cities. Now, i'm a 21 year old student at purdue. Both the cities are beautiful and great to visit, but from a students perspective, I think copenhagen is better to study abroad. I found the nightlife better, and in general I remember it being much more of a city for younger people and a party town. As for snowboarding, you obviously will have a problem doing it up north.. ..but like you said, you can always get away for a week. I snowboarded Zell am See, Austria with some buddies and loved it. Also, if you want to get away for a weekend or so, then I highly recommend checking out Hamburg.. ..its not far, and the nightlife is great! I also went on a tour across europe with Contiki last summer with a bunch of other college students, and I would recommend checking them out if you are interested in doing some more travelling while you are there!

Munich also is a good town to drink beer, have loose shoes and frolic with wild women.
