We are really struggling with which tour to book between the Best of Italy and Italian Treasures.

We really want to see Capri, however, it appears that the hotels offered thru Globus are not on the water. Are they still nice? My other option is to book the italian treasures tour and do capri on my own at a hotel I found that is very nice, reasonable on the water. The downside to that is the hassle of having to get there and back to the hotel in Rome on our own with our luggage. We have been to Pompeii before so that isn't a deciding factor. However, we loved Sorrento so seeing that again would be great. The only other major difference between the tours that I saw was the Italian Treasures used a hotel right in Venice and Florence but the Best of Italy does not. Did that make a differnece? I would love some help from anyone who has been on these tours to tell me about their experience in Capri and their thoughts on the locations of the hotels. Thanks.

We were on the Best of Italy in October 2005 and stayed two nights at the La Palma Hotel on Capri. Although not on the water, it was above the harbor and near all the shops. Be sure to ride the skilift chair ride. It is only 6 Euros and is well worth it for the absolutely fantastic views.
