My wife and I are booked on a tour of Italy through Brendan Tours leaving on October 7. I work for a major league baseball team, and that team has a chance to go to the playoffs, but I won't likely know until late September.

I didn't plan the vacation, so it wasn't my decision to book the trip for six days after the regular season ends. Having said that, nobody really thought the club would be in a playoff chase.

Our main issue is, as I said, we won't know if we'll have to postpone the trip until the very last minute, when the cancellation penalties will be at their highest.

Another issue is we won't have time to re-schedule the trip because by the time we know for sure, all the later tours will be sold out. Most already are. Another complicating circumstance is my in-laws are taking my kids to Disneyworld while we're gone, but they can't take them later.

Do we have any options that won't cost us an enormous amount of money if we have to cancel at the last moment? Also, can we change tours and locations if there is one available that appeals to us?

It's a mess. I'm actually finding myself rooting against the team I work for.
