Optional Excursions - Deal or No Deal??

Optional Excursions - Deal or No Deal??

My wife and I will be taking the Thames to the Tiber Tour in mid-Sept. Does anyone have an opinion on the extra sidetrips available?? Are they worth the money? Also, any idea on what the weather will be like in Paris and Rome at the end of September? Any ideas, comments or suggestions will be appreciated!

If you click on the search option at the top of the page and enter from the Thames to the Tiber you will find several posts by people who have taken that tour in the past. . .

Just wanted to add my two cents on at least one optional offered in London: the Phantom of the Opera Show and Dinner night. Even though it's pricey, my wife and I were blown away by this one. The dinner is excellent. We were in London at the end of the Essential Europe tour and for dinner we sat with folks who were either finishing other tours or just starting one. The discussion - giving tips, sharing stories, etc. -- was fantastic. Then to top it off, we head over to Her Majesty's theatre for the show and our jaws dropped when we realized that we had second row seats, just left of center. I believe I heard someone say that Globus purchases tickets for the first five rows of the theatre. I don't know if that's true or not, but our seats were unbelievable. This optional really was the icing on the cake for our trip. Well worth the money!!

Thanks for the input.. ..we've heard good reviews on this option! Will keep it in mind.. ..what kind of attire is required? We aren't planning on bringing anything too "dress up"!

You don't have to worry about attire. I simply wore a nice pair of khakis, a shirt and a tie. The tie is certainly optional as many didn't even wear that; they simply wore a nice polo shirt.. . Definitely don't worry about a jacket. As long as you don't wear shorts or jeans, and have on a decent shirt, you'll be fine.

I saw the Lion King 3 years ago with Globus and it was just fantastic!

Another thing do not miss a gondola ride in Venice. Wether you do it on you own or with the group it is worth every penny and it is Venice.Ahhhh Venice, how I long to return to Venice!!!!!!!

I agree on the clothing thing. No need to dress up for anything. On tour it is really casual. Just no shorts. Jeans even OK.

Yes I agree that travellers ought to be comfortable and don't worry about what others in your friendly group are wearing. Shorts and sleeveless-tops are not allowed in places of worship. One long skirt for ladies is a practical choice for almost all occasions. :)
Letsgo, now whenever I miss Venice I watch my dvd movies

We just returned from "The Thames to Tiber" tour. The first thing we tried to do was book the optional "Phantom of the Opera" show but was told it was booked up! Very disappointing, but we were able to get seats on our own for the same night and ended up saving over $100 by doing that. Of course it didn't include their dinner, but we had dinner on our own also so it worked out to our advantage!
