Highlights of Spain & Best of Italy (advise & commen

Hi all,

I'm new to this site; I just dropped on to it by chance when searching for reviews of Insight Tours. My Wife and I have booked 2 tours from New Zealand, the "Highlights of Spain" and "The best of Italy". . The Spain tour is the last week in August and the Italy tour the last week in September. We will be in the UK between these dates.

I was wondering if anyone has been on these tours and have any comments of experience with insight or advice about where to sit on the coach, or what to watch out for when on a coach tour.

I am interested in the food side as my wife has wheat intolerance and of course in Italy its spaghetti and pizzas. It said in the insight book that they cater for special food requirements; anybody had any experience with this?

Any comments would be appreciated
Regards

Alan

Dear Alan, last June 2005 we took Italian Escapade from Insight which was similar to the best of Italy and last June 2006 we travelled with Globus on Central Europe. I could tell you that you made an excellent choice by choosing Insight. We found 3 good things about Insight versus Globus. First the coach of Insight sits 40 passengers while 44 from Globus. Therefore every row we had more legroom with Insight. Both tour proposed sit rotation then everybody has the chance to sit everywhere. When we sit behind the driver and the rear door we were cramped with Globus but not with Insight. Secondly there are some options which are already included in the price while Globus charge as Extras. Third thing is most of Insight's hotels were located in central town. Both Insight and Globus offered special food arrangement to meet your requirements. Don't worry. Be prepared for Italian food, it was excellent for the first few times but it was always the same menu - appetizer with cheese or salad or pizza, secondo with pasta and the main course varied from Tuscanny to Southern of Italy. Since we were in Italy at beginning of June the weather was very good, it might be very warm in September. Most of passengers on the tour are at mid-50 so don't waste money by bringing kids with you. The guide tour is generally very knowledgeable and helpful. The group dynamic made the tour different and unique. Don't forget to bring the digital camera because the landscapes were very beautiful everywhere in Italy. I am very glad to have chosen Insight last year because it has given me an opportunity to meet fellow travellers from other parts of the world and we had more open eyes and our hearts. Have a nice trip with Insight
