Flights seem to be very pricey from Barcelona to Germany. Has anyone done this before and found a cheap option.

Also, is it a bad idea catching a train from Berlin to Munich? Too far and too expensive?

A train from Berlin to Munich is probably only around 4-6 hours, which really isn't that bad. The German trains are really nice, so I wouldn't worry about it. And your ticket should be less than 100 euros. Go to bahn.de to look at train schedules and prices.

Also, a cheap flight you can do is the Ryanair flight from Barcelona (Reus) to Frankfurt. I flew for 20 euros when I did it. Go to ryanair.com to check the fares. The only downside is that if you fly Ryanair they land at Frankfurt's smaller airport that doens't have any links to transportation. You can also try Lufthansa. Sometimes they have some good, discount fares between Frankfurt and Barcelona. I got a ticket for $105 RT once.
