I'am new on this message board and would like to ask if anyone has travelled to Bocas Del Toro, we have a 15mnth old and I'am a little nervous. What can I expect and what should I be advised about. We are thinking of purchasing a property there, just thinking, not sure how serious, that's why were checking it out, but would like to here if anyone has been down this path.. .. ..thank you.. .. .
Hi Gail

I was looking into the same thing but without the 15 mth old. Just me and spouse relocation possibilities in future, property etc. probably won't check back here but you can email me at bonny@net-magic.net
May visit next fall. It and Bay islands seem like it would be dooable. would like to find out more.

thanks

Bocas del toro: safe ?

Postby Sirena » Wed Oct 20, 2004 7:42 am

I lived in Bocas, for just over a year and have been back a1-2 times per year to visit friends and keep tabs on my property for the last 7 years.

When I got there in 1996 I was the 27th "gringo" to arrive, now there are hundreds and even thousands when you include the transient tourists.

Safe ? yes, people have raised there children there, retired, are building homes, and have built hundreds of hotel rooms and restusrants. I watched it grow from and it is like anywhere else. The world has no exemption from bad apples, with the exception of Tibet, thankfully the good outnumber the bad, the friendly outnumber the unfriendly, etc etc.
