Our family is taking the Road to Rome this summer. From what I have read and reviewed, we are in for a great time. I have two questions/concerns (so far). . I notice that, in Venice our hotel is our on the Lido. Any opinions on whether this is a good or a bad thing?

For "Florence", the hotel is actually about a half-hour outside of Florence, in Montecatini Terme. Again, opinions about this location.
