WE'RE CONTEMPLATING THE SOUTHERN ITALY AND SICILY TOUR AND THE COSMOS ITINERARY IS FAR SUPERIOR TO ANY OTHER TOUR COMPANY, INCLUDING GLOBUS. WE ARE RELUCTANT TO GO COSMOS BECAUSE OF SOME OF THE COMMENTS ABOUT QUALITY OF HOTELS AND OTHER ASPECTS? ANYONE BEEN ON THIS TOUR(6310) AND WHAT WERE YOUR IMPRESSIONS, ESPECIALLY RELATING TO CLEANLINESS.

I haven't been on this particular tour but after travelling with Cosmos twice this year I have nothing but praise for the company.The hotels were fine, clean and well presented. Most were central (check on-line for the location of each hotel) and the meals provided excellent. I found that Cosmos provided good value for the tours, do check the optional tours they may add to the cost, but they are optional and a great time can be had without taking this tours.

I have been on this tour (6310) before and I am going again this May. Every time I tell my friends about it someone wants to go "next year". . I'm always happy to go along. It's true, the itinerary is FAR superior to almost all other offerings out there. 5 nights in the bay of naples is great and 2 of them ON the island of capri no less! This tour also goes up il Vesuvio! I don't know what you look for in a tour - some people seem to go for the hotels and want all 5 star. Don't get me wrong, the hotels are great but not 5 star. All very clean, safe and believe it or not, closer to town than some much more expensive tours. Rome hotel is about a 20 min walk to caracalla then another 20 to the ancient center. Sorrento hotel is at the end of the main downtown street and perfect for an evening stroll up one side and back down the other. Capri hotel is in the middle of everything. Taormina hotel is about 2 miles away in Letojanni on the beach and has a shuttle up to Taormina. Most tours don't stay in Taormina but 2 miles the other side in Gardini-Naxos. Letojanni is far superior. Siracusa hotel is away from the main tourist island but so are most of the hotels. Agrigento hotel is beautiful, but its late and the valley of the temples was a big day, you'll be tired and just want to sleep. Palermo hotel is down at the waterfront. Probably the least great hotel. It's actually very close to the best area of Palermo but its a complex route. Take a cab back late at night. About food, breakfast is fine and I'm glad they offer only 8 dinners. I don't go to Italy to eat hotel wedding reception food. GlobusCosmos tour guides are some of the best and their bus drivers ARE the best. Hotels can be changed but it's never happened to me. Hope this helps some and in my opinion you CANNOT get a better tour for the money.
