Okay me and my friend are thinking about going to Rome, italy this summer and staying with a host family and studying Italian at the School of Leonardo da Vinci. First of all is this a completly unsafe and bad idea? Second of all, where do teens hang out and stuff, not like bars and places to get smashed just places to chill and meet boys ha. But please reply thanks!

Finally a Teenage with Brains, you stick to your guns! Not unsafe at all, of course use commonsense. There are many many places teens & young adults hang out from cafes to musuems to the fountains or squares depends on the mood.

Most teenagers hang out around the piazzas, sometimes drinking sometimes not. They definitely go out, but Italians drink for fun, not to get wasted (like American teens) so you're probably safer partying in Italy as long as you keep your guard up.

I studied abroad in Florence and didn't have any problems.. .. .

yeah i agree.. ..drinking in europe is much different than drinking in the states. i lived in germany when i was 16, and we went out to all sorts of places. if you drink or not, you will definitely see a difference in the culture of drinking.. ..you should learn to enjoy drinking without getting drunk! a lot of times we would just go out to parks or downtown and walk around or sit in the center of the city and chill. i don't know all the hotspots to hang out in rome, but when i was there we had a great time just walking around and enjoying being in rome!
