Hi,
I am thinking of going on the British Panorama Tour (9020). Has anyone been on this tour, would appreciate your comments on your experiences. Or even if you hve been on a Britain tour with Cosmos. Also one concern I have is in the description it mentioned that the tour "passes" the Stonehedge, and stops in Bath. Does that mean the bus will simply drive by Stonehedge without stopping for us to visit the site and take pictures, get some explanations from the guide?
Thanks so much! |

Thanks so much! |

We were on British Panarama in July back-to-back Europe Imperial Capitals. It was coined "best value".
Our bus stopped at the carpark on the opposite side of Stonehenge for about 10 minutes. So there was no time to purchase tickets and walked through the tunnel under road to Stonehenge. We crossed the very busy road and took pictures from outside the tall fence.
The dinner (option ?) at Edinburgh was aweful as we had to share with some redneck aussies who refused to share a platful of shortbreads with other diners not from their tour group. Just to shame them, we intentionally asked the waiters who took the plate of shortbreads from them and lectured them when they protested.
The rest of the trip was fine. |

| We took a 21 day tour (England/Wales/Ireland/Scotland) that covered the same places/hotels that the BP tour does (plus more of course). The hotels were a bit of a disappointment at first, but then I remembered Im not in the US and begin to enjoy the varying ideas of the "class" of the hotels. Basiclly the hotels provide a clean comfortable place to bath & sleep, and you wont be in the room much anyway. The Stonehenge visit we had was about 30 minutes and if you want to take a real quick (keep those feet moving) tour you can, that was my kids biggest disappointment not being able to get closer, but they did cross the busy road and I took a few photos. The breakfast's are hearty, lots of english type stuff ie; fried eggs, beans, stewed tomatoes, cold cuts(meats), cheese's, cereals something for mosts tastes. The included dinners are not much to speak of, not bad just not great either. The optional "Haggis dinner" in Edinbrough is worth the price, everyone who went had a great time, lots of wine included good show very touristy but fun. See as much as you can in Edinbrough like the Old part (on the way to the castle tour) and the new part it is a wonderful city with tons of history & culture. If you crave all the soda you can drink and some good american style pizza go to the pizza hut in the new part of town (I know that sounds wierd now,but when you are there it will hit you "Brian was right this is a great place for lunch/dinner"). The tour itself will cover a lot of historic places and have a large portion of the cultural history, while driving through some beautiful countrysides. We found the people to be very friendly and they go out of thier way to help, a extremely overall great experiance in my opinion. |

Have just completed a 22 day Trans America Tour with Cosmos - it was great but very full on !! very long days round 6pm every day arrival at our hotels.(we did have a lot of miles to cover !!)
Wondering if the 21 day tour you had in Britian/wales/scot/ireland was of a similar pace ??
What was your average time of arrival each day at your hotel ?
Were the hotels mostly close to the city centres ?
How were the ferry crossings ??
How did you cope with doing laundry ??
Thanks
