Hello Everyone,
Im going on Costa cruises for the first time and Im really looking for someone to comment on, not only the food but also the atmosphere. Is it an older kind of crowd, younger couples or mostly families generally. My first cruise was Celebrity Contstellation with my boyfriend and we had a wonderful time,,its really what they say.. ..you only get the royal treatment.
Would like for someone to let me know.
Thanks

My husband and I just got off the Costa Mediterranea.. ..it was wonderful. The majority of people on the ship were Italian, which added to the atmosphere. There were not a lot of children at all. It was very elegant and romantic. The crew and staff were great. Sylvia the entertainer is a laugh a minute!

As this was our first cruise, we were starry eyed!

Could you please elaborate on your cruise? How was the food? Could you describe the rooms and the amenities in them? Service? Excursions? Thanks!

I must admit, after reading all the negative reports from the other message boards I was not especting very much on this cruise. However, I was so pleasantly surprised!
I travelled with five males (four were teenagers). . I would highly recommend getting adjoining cabins. There aren't many of them, in fact, our 'travel agent' told us they didn't exsist. Wrong! [We were in 6135 and 6137] We kept the door open between the rooms at all times and were able to 'keep tabs' on the boys. Very spacious and enough room for all. The circular shower area was a cleaver touch. Each room had a small refrig. and safe which we never used. A built-in hair dryer and several outlets and the beds were comfortable. I'm used to my pillow-top at home and thought I'd feel like I was sleeping on a wooden board, but I didn't at all. I did request another pillow and was brought four extra for the week.
We took the excursions at each port - Key West: took the boys on the snorkling venture (they said it was great)~~~Progresso/Merida: I took three teenager boys on the jeep ride which they loved because two of them got to drive (they were only 15 and just had their permits)/husband and other son went to the ruins (long drive but worth the trip if you like history)~~~Cozumel:I went with my youngest son on the kayak trip (O.K.-but not exciting)/the others went snorkling again (not as good as Key West -surprisingly - because the area was just off the main road and the group was huge~~~Freeport, Bahamas:crappy port, crappy area, dirty, had to take a taxi that was outragously priced to get to the city, another dirty, cheesy part of the island (guess you get the picture). .
The boys loved the food. Who wouldn't lide Italian pizza 24/7. I loved the ice cream bar that was also always available. I would mix it with a little coffee and make my mocha shake. We went to the sit down dinners every night and really enjoyed selecting from each course. The boys loved the outside grill for the lunches and the eggs and bacon for the breakfasts. I'm sure it's not gourmet fare, but I guess I can wait another ten+ years until my husband and I are 'empty nesters' to upscale to another line.
All in all, I found the ship was marvelous. I didn't feel cramped at all, however, we didn't go to the bars, casino or dances since we were their for the kids on this trip. They enjoyed being able to roam and explored all the areas. I didn't encounter any pushy people. but I was very well rested and didn't mind any waits that we had - which were few.
If I forgot something - feel free to ask again,
Mary
