Single Travel in Europe-- best tour operator?

Single Travel in Europe-- best tour operator?

Postby Escape » Sat Jun 25, 2005 11:37 pm

hi everyone -- I'm looking to escape to Europe during the holidays, and wanted input regarding the best tour operator. I like the convenience of going on a tour as opposed to doing it independently (at least for now). . What tour operator would you say has the best "enviroment" for singles travelling alone? I'm in my early 30's and pretty active and fun.. .. .. .. . I've tried Contiki and had fun but think I may be getting old for bar hopping, but have heard about the blue haired crowd in Trafalgar. What can you tell me about Globus in this regard? I get along with pretty much anyone, but would prefer a group around my age (maybe 30 to 50), and I really, REALLY, don't want to be in a tour group with a lot of children or teenagers. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Are you talking about Christmas holidays? When we went last summer, I told our tour guide that I'd had a preconceived notion that our tour would be mostly retirees and that our son would be the only teen. He said that Globus gets a lot of families during the summer but during the rest of the year, there are seldom any kids.

I suppose there might be some during Christmas vacation times - but not as many since the kids don't get as long out of school.

My granddaughter and I (she is 22 I am 66) just returned from a tour of 2 weeks in Europe and I was one of the oldest in our group. We had a few teens, some mid 20"s and 30's and on up> A great mix and all got along greatly! Some families and couples but no singles except when the family was 3.

thanks for the input! I'm getting the sense that Globus is more couples or family oriented. Just wondering if anyone had any input about other groups that might cater to active singles. I'm not looking for a meat market tour, just a group of fun people who don't have to go "everywhere" with another person, or who don't have to hit the sack at 8 PM every nite! Any input would be appreciated!

Have you considered Trafalgar's "Breakway" tours? They are specifically designed for people 21-38. Check out their website.

I've travelled to europe several times with Globus and enjoyed each trip. The groups were friendly and of all ages. One time we had a couple of teens along, but they didn't distract from the enjoyment of it all.

GLOBUS and singles

Postby elfie » Tue Aug 02, 2005 11:44 am

Took Globus Italian Treasures last September. Including my self 5 singles on the trip. 3 Families with children in their 20's.. ..2 gay couples.. ..the rest of the group were couples ranging in age from late 20's to 1 couple in their late 70's who ran circles around alot of the group. Average age was probably 40 -60. Singles were all in the 40 -50 age group. Had a great time.
