Globus brochures indicate that on rare occasions single travellers will be forced to share a room together, and that the single supplement will be refunded. I am a single traveller who would not wish to share a room with a stranger, and have avoided booking with Globus for this reason. I would like to hear from other single people who have travelled with Globus to learn if this has ever happened to them. Thanks.

Mike - I am a much older traveler than you I am an ancient 65, HOWEVER we (hubby and I ) travel a lot with a single friend of ours - have taken 3 Globus tours and have never seen one having to share a room. BUT, we have seen our friend unhappy with the small size of rooms in Europe - some are okay, and some are matchbox size |

I wouldn't worry. I have taken several Globus tours by myself and I have never shared a room with anyone else. Or seen any of the other singles share a room. I guess they put that in their catalogs to cover themselves in case of problems. Suppose they get to a hotel and they simply don't have anough rooms. For that one night they will ask the singles to share rooms. All of the hotels that I have stayed with Globus are large with more than 100 rooms, so I guess that rarely happens.
If you really want to make sure you don't share a room, travel during the low seasons. During the time the hotels are at less than half of capacity.

Hi Mike,
I travelled with Globus so far about 3 times over the past 7 years and I have NEVER and repeat NEVER had to share a room. So I would not worry about that at all, also Globus do offer VERY goo d trips and they are well worth the little extra money you pay versus a lot of other tour groups.
Hope this helps.

I agree with Tom. I have taken 6 Globus tours on my own during the past dacade and I NEVER shared the room with anyone else. I didn't even know of the policy you mentioned. Similar to William, none of my fellow single travelers shared a room with anyone else.

I'm looking to travel with Globus next year by myself. Are there any words of wisdom anyone would like to offer me - I'm thinking of Italy (then again, who doesn't think of Italy)?

Ooo, I'm thinking of the same thing but looking at October for a trip to Italy. This would be my first time travelling anywhere alone and the first time to Italy. I have looked at Globus as well as Contiki and some other tour groups. Has anyone tried others besides Globus?

We've been very happy with Brenden Tours and Trafalger. Each slightly different, but very acceptable.
Would go with any of them again.

I tour quite often and have never seen anyone forced to share a room - hotel that is. I have seen many times when people have to share cabins on over night ferry crossings especially in the high season on popular routes.

I hope they have at least enough sense to pair a man with a man or a woman with a woman and check sexual preferences beforehand. Globus had an "Incident" occur several years ago and no longer pairs singles in hotel rooms. Insight still does this, however.
Cheers
